SUMMARY:Large Mirage
DESCRIPTION:LARGE MIRAGE are a young Australian rock band with their boots planted firmly in the golden soil of 1970s hard rock but with their eyes fixed on the future. Formed in 2021 by lead vocalist and guitarist Kolya Chan\, LARGE MIRAGE has quickly built a reputation for high-voltage live shows and a sound that pairs heavy rock bravado with psychedelic-pop melodies. Think flared jeans\, stacked amps\, fuzzed out guitars and songs meant to be played loud but warmed up with undeniable ear-candy hooks\, rich three-part vocal harmonies and sophisticated songcraft. \nKolya is the band’s central songwriter\, writing compositions that balance introspective storytelling with searing guitar work. Blake Rochester’s driving bass\, AJ Stanton’s textured keyboards\, and Bailey Brown’s dynamic drumming round out a sound that nods to all rock’s greats but without living in their shadow. Despite their relative youth\, LARGE MIRAGE have logged serious miles. They’ve sold out headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne and shared bills with artists such as The Screaming Jets\, Amyl & The Sniffers\, and the Australian Rock Collective. Their versatility has seen them move seamlessly from intimate venues to major festival stages\, appearing  at events as varied as Woodford Folk Festival\, Lost Paradise\, Party In The Paddock\, and King Street Summer Crawl. The band’s rising reputation as a powerful\, flamboyant\, and charismatic live act earned them the opportunity to support AC/DC at two sold-out stadium shows in Sydney\, the hometown of both bands. \nLARGE MIRAGE have released two EPs to date\, A Side to Blame (2023) and Wings of Time (2025). The band produces their own recordings\, which aim to capture the energy of their live shows. Real music delivered by real musicians who’d rather play rock than talk about it. LARGE MIRAGE has picked up airplay on Triple M\, Rebel FM QLD\, ABC Radio\, and ABC’s long-running Rage\, giving their songs a life beyond the local circuit. Their latest single\, ‘Miss Okay’\, finds the band mixing mid-’60s Motown energy with suave ’70s psych-pop punch. \nLARGE MIRAGE stand at the front of Australia’s new wave of rock. A band unafraid of big riffs\, big melodies\, and throwback fashion. It’s rock music with a past it respects\, a present it’s conquering\, and a future it’s kicking open\, one flared step at a time. \nReviews \n“Large Mirage kick off the evening with bone-rattling riffs. It’s clear why AC/DC chose them as a support.” – Grace Stokes (Scenestr) on Large Mirage supporting AC/DC \n“The room holds its collective breath\, as if we’ve all been transported back in time… Large Mirage isn’t just reviving classic rock; they’re reinventing it with fresh fire. I’malr eady hanging for more…” – Clea-Marie Thorne (Scenestr) on Large Mirage at the Princess Theatre \n“This young dynamic quartet have got a certain magic about them…This is modern retro rock done authentically and with so much heart and soul. Unlike others who have attempted to buy into cloning a style or sound\, Large Mirage are the real deal…” – Andrew Slaidins(The Rockpit) on Large Mirage at the Forum Melbourne \n“There’s something that gives a band a bit extra … a mystique.” – Clinton Walker (author – Highway to Hell) on Large Mirage \n“… a group that brought me back to a time I wasn’t born in – they combine the best of the 60s and 70s\, like The Who mixed with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Looking forward to what’s in store\nfor Large Mirage\, fingers crossed they’ll be a prolonged band of the resistance” – Cameron Menegoni (2SER FM) \n“… the track sizzles with retro crunch and sonic punch (with a) hard-hitting rock edge…” – Corin Shearston (The Sydney Sentinel) on ‘Going Insane’ \n

Growing up in Wollongong NSW\, listening to his Horn-playing father and singing Mothers’ collection of great jazz albums\, the feel\, style and essence of the music became a natural part of Vince’s world. Starting his journey at 20 as a bebop trumpeter playing the club circuit in Melbourne in the late 70’s and early 80’s\, the young man had no idea that in just a few years his superb voice would touch the hearts and minds of so many. This began a deep and intoxicating relationship with genres such as acid jazz\, Electronica\, Afrobeat\, Deep house and Minimal Tech. While some find memorabilia satisfaction in snow globes or lederhosen\, SheJ returned with Laurent Garner\, Ian Pooley\, Carl Cox and Peggy Lee to add to the ever-growing vinyl collection. \n

SUMMARY:Bach and the Bard Season 2
DESCRIPTION:Cellist Rachel Scott and SFJ’s Damien Ryan lead a team of extraordinary musicians and actors on a brand new transformative musical journey through Shakespeare. \nSummer Season just got even better! Sport for Jove are excited to announce the return of the hugely popular Bach and the Bard – an exclusive Summer Season event\, not to be missed.Bach and the Bard is an extraordinary opportunity to hear two of the country’s greatest musicians perform live\, in our communities\, alongside the incomparable music of Shakespeare’s poetry.Musicians and actors have always been interested in the marriage of music and words. Spoken word sounds like song\, and instrumental pieces speak to us as strongly as if they were stories. The Finnish composer\, Jean Sibelius said “Music begins where the possibilities of language end.” \nBach and the Bard is an hour-long concert that blurs the lines of expression between words and music. It connects the words of Shakespeare to music by J.S. Bach\, Pablo Casals\, Michael Praetorius and Paradis. Presented by cellist Rachel Scott\, brilliant percussionist Ben Sibson and actors from Sport for Jove\, you will be taken on a journey for the hour you’ll be in the performance space. Expect dances of all kinds\, featuring hand-drums from around the world\, and moments of magic featuring the heavenly sounds of the vibraphone – all linked to the incredible words penned by William Shakespeare. This promises to be an hour that will stay with you long after the performers leave the stage. \nPlease note: This venue is restricted to 18+ only

SUMMARY:The Women’s Room
DESCRIPTION:After three sellout seasons at the Canberra Comedy Festival\, two at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and nominated as Best in Comedy at the Sydney Fringe\, comedians Trish Hurley\, Tanya Losanno and Jacqui Richards are ready for anything. Hurley and Richards (both Raw Comedy National Grand Finalists) and Tanya Losanno (2x Moosehead recipient) have just completed their third joint show – The Women’s Room Underestimated. \nHurley\, an ex-nurse and avowed hypochondriac\, is living proof that you can be both. In between diagnosing her neighbours with imagined illnesses\, she’s managed to land a new job – she’s the personality hire. And she’s just come back from travelling the world with her reluctant uni student son and a husband hell bent on getting the best deal ever. Richards\, an ex-therapist who belatedly realised she is not a people person\, has gone from trying to convince people she’s Australia’s most popular widow to dodging match makers and public servants. She’s developing a social conscience whilst wondering whether her kids have actually ever told her the truth about anything. \nLosanno\, a marriage celebrant and pre-school teacher\, is caught in the sandwich generation. Between marrying people\, she’s stressing that perfect daughter duties don’t have an end date when you have immigrant parents. In the jumpsuit stage of her life .she’s trying to balance her hormones and her teenagers. Together they are making Australia laugh about things that affect all women of a certain age in a certain stage and in the process they have won a legion of new comedy fans. \nThe Women’s Room – for women and the people who love them.
